ill!

ill! started at the end of a sentence on a project critique.  The shape of the letters immediately jumped out at me, and distracted me for the rest of the day.

This work is a ubiquitous contemporary non-brand, an iconoclastic throwback.  It uses a dated term to reflect its fate of becoming a dated icon of style.

Portland painter David Lynch commission several pairs of custom Vans with the ill! brand.  Currently there are 3 pairs in existence, two variations of red, black, and white, and a single pair of greyscale.  The series of shoes will be exhausted once 12 pairs have been made.
