About Adam Simmons…
One of these days, I swear I’ll sit down and write a proper bio, or not. How do you explain, in writing, the experiences and influences that create the nuanced persona of a person, let alone when that person if you?
Maybe I should pay one of the writers I know to paint this picture for me…
I have been creatively curious as far back as I can remember. When I was 4 or 5 years old, sitting in front of the old console TV watching Bob Ross, and trying my best to follow along. My early school years were spent doodling on my books while a class went on around me. In the following decades I found graffiti and hip hop culture, dj’ed for a living for a couple years, joined a band, joined the military for a second time, became a combat correspondent, went to college, studied graphic design, multimedia, and video. I worked as a graphic designer, freelance photographer then a videographer. I’m currently studying video and sound at Pacific Northwest College of Art .
I am married to a wonderfully talented RN working in CF research, we live with our two young daughters, and old pug named Gunny, and two old hens. My practice focuses on topics of conflict between humans and nature using a wide variety of photographic, video, and audio techniques and technologies often taking on a documentary format. My practice is consistently complicit and critical of emergent technologies.
